[mood | rambly]
[music |Regina Spektor - "Machine"]

So, again, I've let posting lapse. I remember a time when I was posting every day. Multiple times. That was likely a much more annoying time rather than entertaining, but still. Even if I have a hard time reading what I sounded like in 2001 over again now, it was nice to have a record.

So here's another go at picking it up again. Let's see if I can sum up the recently of things, yes?

A couple of shows have happened. George, Genevieve and I went to see Fuerzabruta in May which is this wild show off Broadway (a birthday gift to Genevieve from me and Michael). Action happening all over, above, on the walls, on treadmills. The audience moves around with the show. Crazy lights and building music. It all ended with a rave dance party under indoor rain. Thoroughly enjoyable show; quite the worth it experience.

Only other notable experience in May was more festivities for Genevieve's birthday. Lots good food and lots of friends.

June came and went almost as though it didn't exist. Many things happened, but it was one of those months that felt like it was over before I'd realized it started. To kick off the month we had a performance in Asbury Park for a ::insert many different sexualities and lifestyle choices here:: benefit. Our very first outdoor (and on asphalt, no less) show which went swimmingly but far too quickly. I did "Fuck You" again (which I absolutely love) and almost bought chaps. Damn my slightly too big (but beginning now to slim) thighs! I'm determined to have a pair by next year. This was followed by Dan's graduation party which was mucho fun and my introduction to a great family tradition of theirs: celebrating important milestones with lots and lots of crab.

Around the same time I got to enjoy both a boys' weekend and girls' weekend (one while Genevieve was in Virginia and one while Michael was in south Jersey). Boys weekend included much geeking out (including seeing the new Star Trek for the second time), much drinking, and a great deal of laziness. Girls weekend started by seeing the rescheduled Bailout Burlesque Charity Auction. (The first of which was cancelled, uncancelled, cancelled, moved, and finally cancelled the first time around - all on the same night. That experience included hanging awkwardly in the new Indian restaurant which was appalled to have us there in the first place, then move up to the scary soon-to-be clothing store which was falling apart, boxes and furniture - and rat pellets - strewn everywhere, only to discover performing there as illegal, almost moving the the gay club down the road, and ultimately turning away the whole audience and going home completely unfulfilled. Although in retrospect not a bad story to have.)

The rescheduled show was much fun to watch, some for tragic and some for very talented reasons. Parts made me very much want to collaborate, and other parts made me cheer (slightly inappropriately) as one act was dragged off stage. Overall and very fun night. I would love to see the auction aspect revisited now with lessons learned.

Saturday continued our girly-fest starting with some shopping, where I spent money I didn't have on clothes I _really_ wanted. Next we saw The Proposal which I liked a lot, followed by Appletizers and an impromtu stop at the club Switch to have shots and dance until close. I hadn't had a girly weekend in a long time; lots of fun was had.

Following the fun and leading up to the first of two full weekends of gaming, I got very sick, although nothing compared to the red death rash of earlier this year. Fortunately, my health returned for my weekends of gaming. You see, many times in the past we've started talking about RPGs and playing and I've said something like, "Oh! We could play now!" and everyone laugh and pats me on the head and we move on. But several weeks before, this happened while Dan and Katie were over only instead of laughing and patting, Dan, Michael, and Joe said, "Okay!" and Katie and Genevieve went shopping. This in and of it self was a geek-dream come true for me. And even moreso, as wee talked further, spawned into a plan to do full-on gaming weekends while Katie was away in Texas for a couple of weeks for a wedding.

This gave us (Michael, Joe, Dan, and I) a chance to plan an awesome D&D campaign Michael's been working on for a while on weekend one. Last weekend we tried D&D 4th Edition Friday night and then George joined us for Saturday and Sunday where we played card and board games and watched some geeky British comedy. (Best way to celebrate Fourth of July ever!) Completely enjoyable weekends and I absolutely want to do similar for every celebration that's for me. And many weekends in between.

Besides these gems I've remembered to mention, I'm sure many other really great things have happened, and for those things I forgot, I appologize. Much of the rest of my life has been exercise, shower, work, shower, dinner, sleep, repeat. Much with the work. But things are pretty okay right now.

Enough rambling; hopefully another two months will _not_ go by this time.

[mood | okay]

I had a really great weekend this past week, which was welcomed after some stress I've been feeling lately from several different areas.

Friday night, even though I worked late, Genevieve, Michael, and I met Joe back here at my place to game for the first time in months. After loading up on food and myriad stimulants to keep us awake we gamed for six and a half hours bringing us to 5:30 in the morning. The sun was up and we all passed out soon afterward. It was _awesome_.

Four and a half hours later, for no reason whatsoever, my body decided it didn't want to sleep anymore. So I, Joe, and Michael (and eventually Genevieve) went downstairs and started trying to figure out Arkham Horror for several hours while I made us all breakfast. After running some errands (my computer's getting a bit loopy and I've been worried there might be something seriously wrong, so I needed to get an external hard drive to back everything up before I try to fix it or it simply crashes), Michael and I went to see Indiana Jones that night while Genevieve and George went to see a different movie, the plan being to meet up for dinner afterwards.

Now, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.... )

I remember little of dinner besides the frequent inserts of new or revisited complaints about the film from me and Michael, but having dinner with Genevieve and George was a good way to start cleansing.

But and even better way came the next day. In our continued effort to improve and fix some of the problems going on in our relationship (the three of us as a whole and all the individual ones), one step that we've needed is reconnection with Genevieve. She and Michael have gotten a better start at that than she and I have, but Sunday was an excellent way to kick it off. After lounging around for a while after we woke up, Genevieve told me to get dressed and get in the car. It became clear very quickly that Michael was not going to be joining us and so we went. She took me on a couple of quick errands and then we were driving up the parkway. I had _no_ idea where we were going until we actually walked _into_ the spa. She took me on a spa day!

We got to do a couple's whirlpool which was insanely relaxing, for a couple of reasons, and then got a full body couple's massage. Plus the place is just drenched in luxury. They have delicious lemonade, really nice robes (which you walk around in the whole time), comfy lounges, nice bathrooms, and huge showers that Genevieve and I took advantage of after our massages. Really, they just supply you with everything. It was one of the most relaxing things I've done in a really long time. She then took me out to lunch where we ate a load of food Michael hates, drank some really delicious fruity liquor, had a really nummy dessert, and watched zexy softball players. It was heavenly. (Also a great fix for the vileness that was Indiana Jones.)

The rest of the evening was spent pleasantly relaxing at home with Michael, playing Grand Theft Auto IV, having sex, and going to sleep nice and early.

Even so, we ended up sleeping in very late (we all clearly needed the sleep). Monday was another day of gaming for us. We picked George up and met Joe back at the house. We actually got through _most_ of a game of Arkham Horror. I think we were playing for a total of five hours and we still weren't actually near winning. It was fun, though, and I think we're finally getting the hang of it. It complicated, but that's what you get when you try to get the fel and spirit of an RPG into board game form. We all had dinner with my mom before Joe had to go to work, we played on round of Loaded Questions and then George headed home as well. Another relatively early night to bed and the end of a really excellent weekend.

And, short work week! I did find out, though, that unfortunately Pauline's dad is in the hospital and not doing very well. She's on a flight now to California and I'm going to keep things running for her while she's there. So it'll be an interesting week here (although hopefully manageable), and I wish her the best.

That's about all I got. I should really be getting back to work now.

So when Lionel found out that my birthday was coming up, he suggested that I go through the store, write down everything I'm interested in, write it down, and he'd keep it here in case anyone came in shopping for me. That way he could make suggestions and check off what had been purchased already.

So guess what I did for the last hour?

It's kinda sad how much money I want to spend in this store.

In case anyone's interested, my wishlist. )

I am crazy. :D

Neat! Dukat was in Next Generation along with Deep Space Nine!

Well, okay, the actor was, anyway. He played three different small roles in Next Gen.

Okay, so maybe I'm the only one that cares, but it was cool to see him!

Anyway, long day of work ahead. I got in at eleven and I have to work until nine (I'm going to be starving when I leave). Possibly nine thirty. Steven's birthday party is today, and he's having it here, so I've gotta run it. I'm gonna close teh store at six like usual, clean/set up for the party, and then run said party. Should actually be fun for me, 'cause I may end up getting to play. And even if not, I'll get to sit in the front and just watch TV. Plus, more money. And more money is always good. Especally since I missed some hours on Saturday. I may end up staying a half an hour after the party, thuogh, to do a thorought cleaning for him since I didn't get a chance to this morning. Well see.

I also found out that I don't have to work on Monday. Which I'm glad about, 'cause I didn't want to work on the holiday, but it was gonna suck that I'd miss out on the money. However, he offered to give me Tuesday next week to make up for it. He needs the day off, and figured I'd get a better check that way. Rock! I'm also staring Thursdays this week, so I'll be getting quite a bit better of a check. Or, at least a little better.

Okay, work now.

-- There's a Gonk Star Wars miniature! It's Gonk!

... ... ...

Gonk!

-- There is also a Dungeon's and Dragons version of Clue! And we have it! In the store! :D

We got it in on Monday, and I as hoping that it'd be a demo game so I could play it but, alas, it's for sale. Which is good and bad. I'll prolly get it eventually, just not any time soon. But still, awsome that it exists.

... ... ...

Gonk!

[mood | tired]

I have been up for seven and a half hours.

I stayed at Genevieve's last night and helped her do a bunch of stuff she had to get done. Unfortunately, this meant getting up insanely early, 'cause she had to get to work by seven. But this did mean that I missed most of the traffc in the morning, helping me much with my anxiety over driving home.

And did I go back to sleep for the two hours I had when I got home? No! I excercised, cleaned my room, took a shower, and ate breakfast. So by the time I got to work, I felt like I'd already lived through a full day. And I had two hous of cleaning in the store ahead of me (Wednesday has become the huge clean and restock everything day since the comics only ever take a half an hour). Along with many comics to bag, price, and put away. Three and a half hours later, I'm finally sitting down, and exhausted.

But, I found out I'm getting another day (of work). He's giving me Thursdays from 11-6. I can totaly deal with an extra seven hours pay each week. I'm starting tomorrow, btu only woring 'til four tomorrow sinceI have plans in the afternoon already. But, it'll help make up for some of last weeks crapy check.

Now he's got me learning a new collecatble card game that came in called Hecatomb. Really weird game. Seems like it might be a lot of fun, though.

The store is full to the brim with loud, very hyper children today. I am so ready to go home.

Then I get to relax and see Willow.

This day must end now.

I've been here long enough; cleaned everything I possibly could (most things twice), dealt calmly and faux happily with every screaming child that's been in, run a tournament where I had several kids completely ignoring my authority and second guessing every call I made, and answered the phone so many times it's out of battery.

Really, this is enough.

[mood | bored]

Well this is turning out to be the slowest Monday I've run so far. Since Steven's on vacation, there's not even anyone I can rely on to come into the store to play. And so far, not a single person. It's completely dead. Not quite sure why. It's actually a little cool for most of them to want to be at the pool. But, if it doesn't pick up, I'm going to have a very boring day.

I've already made up my new Magic binder. Separated by expansion (in order) and alphabetically. So I've now got a binder of rares and uncommons. That took up almost an hour. Maybe I'll try to teach myself some of the new games that've come in.

Bah.

[mood | good]

Thank god I'm finally getting less sick. Certainly took long enough.

Of course, with how absolutely vile this new medication is, I deserve to be healthy.

Even after a ten hour work day yesterday, I was pretty okay. Worn out and a little achy, but much, much better then I've been. Unfortunately, Genevieve got a migrane pretty suddenly right before the show. She ended up calling out and I did my best to make sure she was taken care of here. We both got much needed sleep, and she got care and relaxation that eventually got rid of most of her migrane.

Today, we had a three of us celebration of Michael's birthday. Had a really nice, long, in-bed morning, took him out to dinner, came back here and got some gaming / talking in before a much reluctant but late as it was end to the evening. All in all, really good day.

It was also our official two year anniversary of gettin' back together (which will be celebrated at a later yet-to-be-determined date). In some ways, I can't believe it's already been two years, and in others, it seems like it must be a hell of a lot longer then that. It's comforting to know we've gotten this far, especially with how well things have been going lately, and how everything's seeming to level out. I am hopeful and happy for the future. :)

It's all rainy outside and the humidity / tempurature's dropped dramatically, at least for now, considering how it's been lately. I just hope it lasts. I really can't take much more swealtering, humid disgustingness. It drives me crazy. I'm so glad fall's not too far off.

Now I think I'll go organize my Magic cards for a bit and then go to sleep.

[mood | hot]

Sometimes I just want to rip their little heads off their little bodies.

Only sometimes. But when I do, I really wanna. Last night was the worst tournament experience of my working here. I never want to run a 200 point tournament again. First of all, each team has so may characters, the games take forever. And getting them to stop playing after a half an hour is like pulling teeth. Except that pulling their teeth would have been much more fun. They were loud, obnoxious, wouldn't listen to me, and rude. I have never screamed so much in my life with no effect.

We didn't get everyone finished and out until almost twenty after nine. By the time I got to the car I was shaking I was so angry. But, my night got significantly better once I got home to Genevieve and Michael.

Today is proving to be at least much quieter. Plus, I got homemade banana bread from Alan's mom (still warm!). I'm kinda starting to feel ready to go home and I've got a little more then five hours left. Hopefully I'll get some of the calmer Star Wars players tonight, and since it's a regular match, we shouldn't have a problem with running over the time limit.

Well, I think a couple of a kids are gonna teach me Heroclix, hopefully that'll pass some of the time.

This virus thingy is totally kicking my ass. I haven't been this sick in a really long time. Now I remember why I never miss it.

Genevieve and Michael came over tonight. Albeit a lax evening considering Genevieve is now sick, and Michael's just getting over something. But they brought me surprise Thai food, and Michael brought me a magic card filled get well present. (Ooo! Speaking of get well presents, my mom got me season five of Angel, now completing my set; so many presents!)

We mostly played magic and snuggled/slept.

Now I think I'll prolly head upstairs for more sleep. I really hope I feel well enough to go pick up my check at work at some point. Plus, my room's a disaster area and it could use at least a gettin' the garbage out kinda clean up sometime before the weekend.

Okay, sleep now.

I got to play in the Magic tournament!

Lionel opted not to, and let me participate. I kicked some little kids ass the first round, second round I so should-a won (after coming back from a fairly nasty start), but I made a realy stupid mistake, and lost the game for myself. But then I totally bombed on the last round anyway. It was really a lot of fun though. And Micahel and Genevieve were here which, plus!

Oh! I'm being sent out on a road trip apparently.

[mood | busy]

Very busy day here.

I got in about fifteen minutes late because there's a stupid street fair in the center of Summit. Good thing I don't know the side streets to get back to where I was going. I hate stree fairs. Once I got here, the place was a mess. It took me every minute 'til closing to get it passable, and I kept on cleaning a half an hour after that. Plus we have three tournaments going on today.

Fortunately one of them is magic. I got a couple-a things already, and hopefully I'll be able to enter the tournament. If an odd number of people sign up, Iget to even it out. Otherwise, I'm outta luck.

Romel (one of the guys who comes in all the time; he also lives in Union) came in to bring me a taste test of italian ices. He got a bit thing of Rita's mango ice and a pint of Ice Hut mango ice. He was convinced that Ice Hut's better, and I'm a Rita's girl through a through. I do have to admit, though, it's nic and creamy. But Rita's is more mango-y and not as sweet. So I still like Rita's better, but I can appreciate his preference.

Now Steven has me watching a fairly decnt anime on TV while he waits for his dad. At least the day's going by pretty quickly (for 10+ hour day). I'm just ready for it to be show time now.

I so don't want to go to this baseball game today.

After the first Bears game we sponsored, they gave us another game to hopefully recoup some of the money we never made on the first. And I, inadvertantly, volunteered to do it by myself. Joy! Besides the fact that I really hate baseball, and the games last for_e_ver, I get to drive and be right in the middle of Newark all day.

Fortunately, Chris is being wonderful and coming with me so I don't have to be alone. Which makes me feel a lot better.

Still, I have no idea where I have to go, and I'm really not looking forward to 5+ hours in the swealtering heat teaching sticky children how to play Sportsclix.

Oh well. I do get to see George tonight, though.

Off to find directions.

And again with the bagging, pricing, inventoring, and putting away of the comics!

I can't wait 'til this project is over.

I've been here since 9:00, and everything's gon surprisingly quickly. and I'm leaving at five which'll give me plenty of time to clean, exercise, and finish The Half Blood Prince when I get home.

Yesterday was pretty busy. I had to bring my mom all over the place to fix a mess my father had created. He overdrew his and my mom's bank account (which is used, or supposed to be used, only for paying bills; my mother's calculated to the penny sometimes) over $300 worth. So of course, my mother was hysterical, and I took her to the bank to straighten it out. Right now, we're back in the clean, and he's no longer got access to the ATM (she froze his card). Now we've gotta get him to the bank so she can close the account, open her own that he doesn't have access to, and pay the bills from there. Fun!

We also got bagels.

I did get to hang out with Michael, though, later on. I totally kicked his ass in Star Wars minis (twice). But, then he kicked my ass I Magic (twice). However, I was using an unaltered, brand new to me premade deck from Saviours and had no idea how to use the mecanic yet, or even all the cards in it. That said, I so could-a played better. Anyway, good night overall afte a fairy stressful day.

Unfortuantely I got kind of a shitty nights sleep. Kept on having fairly macabre dreams that kept me restless. Of course, once my alarm went off, I could have slept for hours. But now that I'm here and I'm busy, I'm awake and alert.

Okay, back to busy.

[mood | good]

Holy crap. The store's not even been open an hour and we're almost out of boosters. (The new reprint of the Rebel Storm Star Wars minis packs came in today). The sales are up to $408 already. That's double what I made all day last Monday.

Steven's been here since 11. He called me and said he was outside. An hour before we opened. So Ilet him help me clean and stock the shelves with the boosters and opened a little early. And now it's madness.

Best peices I got were Han, Lando, Jabba, C3-PO, R2-D2, Emperor Palpatine, and Mara Jade. I had actually pulled two Mara's, one of which I traded for my Han. I love my Han. I also picked up a couple-a of packs for Michael. I don't think we're gonna have any left by two. This is nuts. But kinda fun.

Tara and Chris brought me to work this morning. I never thuoght I'd be disappointed about not driving... it's weird. Tara needed to bring her car in for repair, and they wanted to have a car, so they dropped me off and they're picking me up at six. I feel like I've worked a whole day already. Between the fairly extensive cleaning I did this morning and the swarm of sticky children buying up packs all over the place and fighting over the best stuff.

I've had really excellent luck, so I know very little about being on the complaining side of it. Hell, I got pretty much every peice I wanted save Boba.

Anyway, weekend was good, in the end. I got way too little sleep (and had to work), and there was a bit of a hiccup in the middle, but overall, it was good. And hiccups eventually leave to betterness. Plus, Thai food (still can't feel my throat), sex, and I got to stay at Genevieve's last night.

Okay, gonna read Harry Potter now.

[mood | hyper]

So, on Wednesday night I dropped the car off for an oil change and to have the breaks checked.

$550, new front breaks, an oil change, and a tune-up later, the car's running much better now. I picked it up last night after Michael got here. After passing it three times, I will never now forget where the place is again (not that I should have since it's like, seven blocks away from me...). Fortunately, I'm still using my mom's car, and she's paying the brunt of this. These are the times where getting my own car doesn't looks so pleasant.

I had a nice evening with Michael. I taught him how to play Star Wars minis and totally got him hooked. (I know, I know; I'm a bitch.) He's already got the actual tactical stuff down then I do, but I still kicked his ass twice. (Only two games I've ever won since my first - I think I can now start blaming Steven for using an unfairly advantaged team against me.) 'Twas tres fun.

I ended up talking to Genevieve later on and hanging with Chris and Mike a bit while they were here. I kinda miss talking to them both.

Today I've got a fairly busy day ahead of me, as soon as it starts. I had intended to exercise this morning, but my cramps and achey body combined are keeping me from it. Three times is good for my first full week, I think. Next week I'll do at least four. I'll be up to five or six in no time. Once my mom's physical therapy is over (Mark's here right now), we've gotta go to Costco, the post office, her doctor's office to pick up a form, two different banks, get bunny food, and possibly pick up a gift for my little cousin's who're having a party this Sunday (which I'm kinda sad I'm missing, now that I like that aunt, and I love their kids; but no way I'm giving up my current plans for it). And I've already gone out for gas and the stuff we needed at Stop 'N Shop.

All this must be done by 4:30-ish so's I can be ready for Michael to pick me up. We're meeting Genevieve for food, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and then Genevieve and I will be off to the Harry Potter party at Borders.

Don't really wanna work tomorrow, but I don't have to be in until one, and then we've got all Sunday. Bit of a deviation from previous non-plans, but not much. I'm just hoping we get a chance to play at least one of the new games I have (I'm such a geek it hurts).

Okay, now I'm just rambling. I want to think of something wonderfully interesting to say, but I can't, so I think I'll get ready to go.

I got my Omega Virus today!

Okay, so a little back story. When I was younger, we didn't have a lot of board games, but we did have a couple fairly unusual ones. One of them was a game called The Omega Virus. It's a futuristic game set in some kind of huge building where the Omega Virus has spread. I don't remember whether it's a computer virus or a biological virus, but either way, the object is to collect what you need to be able to access different rooms, and try to find the virus. And whoever does, wins. There's a lot more to it then that, but that's about all I can remember. It's been years since I've played it.

It used to be my brother's and my favourite board game ever. But over the years, as happens with children and parents, we lost some peices, my mother threw some out 'cause they were on the floor. Ours was incomplete and I recently actually threw it aways.

After I'd won a new on on ebay.

And it came today. I can't wait to play it.

I think they didn't put the air conditioning on today or something.

It's hot as hell in here.

Only forty-five minutes 'til I get to leave though. Did another mountain of comics that I just finished. But I did get to demo a really cool card game (Nuclear War) with Rick. I lost, horribly, because the kids were mean to me, but it's really pretty cool. They're still demoing in the back so the store's been pretty full and business-ful all day.

Okay, so ready to go home, now...
